The Orange Room. (Oh, I went there)

When Mr. C and I bought the lakehouse (which is really a manufactured house on a lake, but LakeManufacturedHouse just doesn’t have the same ring to it), I knew I wanted to decorate it and make it a fun place. I usually write about our remodel work on my farmblog. (Go here to see what we’ve done so far)

So, in the spirit of FUN… may I present The Orange Bedroom.

The Orange Room

Bright, no?

I’m sure these sheets (found at JCPenney- the green/blue/yellow striped ones) will up the ‘FUN’ factor.

And for my inspiration (which I found AFTER I painted the room, but I like the colors that go with the orange)

Orange Room from

Found on b/c I LOVE me some HGTV!

Eventually (aka when I get A JOB) we’ll add crown moulding (to cover up the spots on the ceiling that I hit with the roller… tee hee hee) and I’ll paint the ceiling fan to match the room.

So what do you think? Would you ever paint a room orange?

(Check out my farmblog to see how our garden and chickens are doing, plus fun remodelling ideas I usually see on HGTV!)

  3. April Says:

Holy ORANGE, Batman! LOL Don’t know that I would ever be that brave, however, when you see the room altogether like on the HGTV picture, it DOES look pretty cool and funky and fun! :-) I can’t wait to see your finished product!

  4. Courtney Says:

I don’t think I would ever have the gumption to paint a room orange, but after seeing the HGTV room it looks Amazing! I would never have thought a room could look like that with Orange walls!! Good luck and nice start!

  5. Journeying Mama Says:

I love the orange and would totally paint a room that color - if my hubby would let me! Paint is easily changed so why not have fun with it?

  6. Kel Says:

At first I thought…Whoa..she totally went there, but after the second picture, I totally see what your thinking and it rocks! I def think the color looks fun with the addups!

  7. Jocelyn Says:

I’m actually pretending right now that you painted that room orange (with bright green accents) because we painted our dining room orange (with bright green accents) a few years ago. And, um, because I pretend to have a show on HGTV, I’m pretty sure that’s where you saw it.

  8. Mrs. Kitty Says:

First of all, I cracked up at your title. Like its a challenge! I would never have done orange, but with the rest of the colors from HGTV (my latest addiction!!!), there is definite fun potential. And I’m bummed that you don’t put up more home improvement projects here. I have too much to think about… (although now I’ve got another thing to put in my reader. LOL) I can’t keep up!

Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!

  9. slynnro Says:

I dont’ think I could deal with an orange room, but I like the color combo with the green.

  10. dcokequeen Says:

Somehow if I did that room, it would look like someone ate an Orangecicle and threw up in there. But yours looks cute. And I love the sheets. The HGTV room looks amazing too. I wish my whole house could look like that!

  11. Cee Says:

That’s a very bold color! I don’t know that I could pull it off for a whole room (maybe an accent wall?) but I think it looks lovely!

I have a list of things I want to do decoration-wise Eventually (aka when I get a job) boo.

  12. Mike Says:

I love it. My house has a yellow dining room, a blue and white living room, one bedroom is purple, the other is pink and the master is green. Yeah, we like color at my house….

  13. Here In Franklin Says:

Hey, I went to school in Knoxville. I LOVE all things orange.

  14. Liddy Says:

  15. Erica Says:

My dining room had molding on the bottom half which was white but the top portion was orange- it was a little less orange but orange none the less. I loved it. I also painted my b athroom orange at one point b/c it had yellow sink and toilet.
You gotta be a little daring. AFterall its only paint.

  16. Indigo Says:

I love it! And no, I’d never paint a bedroom orange. However, I feel the need to share that our home office is painted dark green and it’s been forever dubbed The Green Room.

  17. Alana-isms Says:

I think it looks very warm and inviting…nice! :)

  18. Beautiful Mess Says:

I’d totally paint a room orange! I think it’ll look great-er once it’s all put together! How exciting.

  19. WiseGuy Says:

Looks wild and young! Hmmm…I have never thought of orange as a colour choice for walls…but there is rage on right now, where one wall gets a deep, funky colour and the other walls are left with a subtle colour…adds contrast and dimension to the room!

  20. Hope Endures Says:

Love, love, LOVE the orange. I think it will turn out fabulously. Great inspiration pic, too! (ICLW)

  21. Fiona Picklebottom Says:

We call ours “The Tangerine Room.” I just redid my oldest daughter’s room and she wanted it painted orange. It turned out pretty nice, which I hadn’t expected. I thought it would be AWFUL and it wasn’t.

  22. Missy Says:

I love the orange! And I also love HGTV and the inspiration room. I have an orange dining room, but it is more of a golden orange.

  23. caitsmom Says:

Wow! The room is stunning. I wouldn’t paint a room orange, but not because I don’t like it, but because that’s my DH’s job!!!! That’s right I’m a traditionalist when it suits me!

  24. Jenny @ Another Jennifer Speaks Says:

LOL I could never sit in an orange room for long. It would be to loud. Even white walls bother me. I want like…dark blue walls. :9

  25. Lupron Girl Says:

That looks so cheery! I was just blogging about painting my living room grey. Maybe that’s not such a good idea. I could use some cheery orange. Maybe I’ll stop by HGTV for some ideas…. *ICLW*

  26. Kristin Says:

I’m not sure I’d go there but I think it will look fab with the sheets you picked.

  27. Mya Says:

I don’t think I’m bold enough to paint a room orange, but it definitely qualifies as a fun color. Perfect for a lake house.

  28. theworms Says:

I love it and I would paint a room orange. The inspiration room that came after the painting is also amazing. ICLW

  29. Mrs. Gamgee Says:

I love the bright colours! Most people don’t appreciate my colour sensibilities (I have a yellow living room, green kitchen, and a red bedroom) but I think it makes things cheerful and homey.

  30. Alison Says:

OMG I love the orange. I’m super brave with color much to Husbands chagrin but I LOVE IT! *ICLW*

  31. In Due Time Says:

LOVE the orange room! Perfect for a lake house.

  32. blues Says:

I would never have the balls to paint any wall that color, but I´m sure it will look great. My decorating skills suck, my house is so boring.

  33. Mel Says:

How BRAVE of you! Have you seen mom and dad’s living room? Nice right? Took all of us like 3 hours, paint, paint, switch furniture, curtains, and clean up. Guess that’s the good part of living w/ a big family……Are you going to Myrtle Beach, I’ve decided me and the runts are ganna go……

  34. Wendy Says:

I LOVE your orange room. Painted my living room at my old house nearly the same color. It made me feel so happy and cheerful every time I looked at the wall. Those sheets are going to go great with it. What an awesome eye for color.

  35. Norris Says:

Outstanding knowledge! I have been previously hunting for something such as this for a time now. Thx!

  36. Mega video Says:

Hey There. I found your blog using msn. This is a very well written article. I’ll be sure to bookmark it and return to read more of your useful information. Thanks for the post. I will certainly return.

  37. Megavideo Says:

I must say, as a lot as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a fantastic grasp around the topic matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from more than one angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so much. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the subject. Think about adjusting your very own believed process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.
