Black Friday- 2009 Edition
Let’s talk about Black Friday shopping, shall we? (And by the way- getting a job a mere 3 weeks before Black Friday? NOT A COINCIDENCE. Me and Black Friday are MEANT TO BE)

So I got these sweater socks at Old Navy when I went Black Friday shopping. And I LOVE THEM. They were only $6.25 b/c they were 50% off (Victoria’s Secret has them as well- but for around $40.00) And I want MORE of these. At least one more pair for the lake, but I could use more for at home too, you know- in case I accidentedly walk around outside in them (where the chicken land mines lay) and need to wash a pair. You can’t dry them in a dryer, but you can machine wash them. I’ll settle for that. You can find them HERE for $10.00. (And if you use ebates.com, you’ll get an extra 10% off)

I bought our first down comforter last Black Friday for the lake. And I love it SO MUCH (it’s so warm! And comfy!) that I wanted to get one this year. So I did. And I got it in brown in case I don’t want to buy a duvet, but since I’d like to be able to wash it, I will probably get a duvet. (And I would really like THIS ONE from West Elm in the steel color, but we’ll see) All sizes were only $49.00 which is great for a down comforter. Right now they are $79.99 at JcPenny.com. (More specifically HERE)

I also FINALLY found a ‘liquor carousel’ for MrC. I’ve been looking for one for 2 years. They’re nothing special, and only around $20.00 but I haven’t been able to find one and I FINALLY did. And I was all “MrC! I got you a present you’re going to like!” And while I was shopping for it, my sister carried it around the store (we both had armfuls of my stuff) and I was all “Oh! Merry Christmas to all! For the liquor carousel has been boughten!” Okay, not really but I was pretty excited to finally get it.
Then later that night and I’m talking to MrC’s mom (he made me) and she was like “I bought something for MrC today. Let me look at the box to figure out what they call it.” And I’m sitting there thinking ‘No way in hell did she get the liquor carousel. NO WAY’ (you see where this is going, right?) and then she’s like “Oh, it’s a liquor karowsel.” Even though she butchered the last word, I realized that yes, she did indeed get him the same present I was so happy about. “Oh no!” I said with much drama, “I got him one TOO! And I’ve been looking for one for 2 years!” She then paused.
Now here is the part where most in-law (we’re not married but you get what I’m sayin right?) parents would say “Oh, well I’ll take mine back! No problem!” Then we could laugh and figure out who would give him one and who would take theirs back.
But not her.
Instead, after a pause, she says “Well, then I guess he’ll just have to get two.”
And then I’m stunned. Because REALLY? FUCKIN REALLY?! Who needs TWO liquor carousels?! Most people don’t need ANY and she thinks he needs TWO?!
I got off the phone, pissed after that. I mean, I know it’s dumb… but I also know the only reason she wants to give it to him is b/c I told her I had been looking for 2 years so she KNOWS that it’s something he’ll like. But really? She couldn’t even offer to take it back?
So now I have to plan specifically to take back the stupid mother fuckin carousel- and I have a job now- I mean, I don’t have time to be gallabanting around the city! (And yes, I thought about giving it to him first and then his mom’s would be the second one he got, but I’d rather bitch about how his mom is so UNREASONABLE and SELFISH!)

I also got Hope Floats for $2.00. I love that movie!
So what great deals did you guys find on Black Friday?

I would not take it back for a second–that lets her win. At least let her be uncomfortable. You can take the other one to the lake house
