Sex and the City 2: Disappointment!

First of all, SPOILERS AHEAD! Do NOT READ IF you haven’t seen Sex and City 2 and you want to be surprised!!

I was SO. DISAPPOINTED in Sex and the City 2. I wasn’t even expecting anything amazing… just my favorite characters doing funny things in great clothes.

Let me first say that I LOVE Sex and the City. I’ve watched every episode through the seasons. When Carrie dropped her cell phone on her (gorgeous!) wedding dress in the first movie, my heart dropped. I wiped away tears. Then when she moped for days b/c she had been stood up? I felt her pain.

So, I was a little prejudice going into the movie. It was going to be hard for me to NOT like it.

But yeah. Lots of things I didn’t like.

1.) The characters weren’t their vivacious selves. I always picture them skipping through New York in high heels, laughing. The first thought that comes to my mind from this movie is TIRED. They were just kind of TIRED.

2.)  Stanford and Anthony get married?! REALLY? And they seemed like they were going to go off on the subject of Anthony saying just b/c he was married doesn’t mean he wasn’t going to cheat. But then they didn’t. And all of a sudden it was more of a ‘We can make our own relationship rules’ thing.

3.) At the gay wedding, the couples (Carrie, Charlotte, and Maranda with their respective husbands) were just too… happy. Even at the wedding. It was too much of a ‘everything is so perfect’ scene that I just DID. NOT. LIKE. I mean, if they wanted to play Charlotte as the frazzled mom of 2, why not have her show up looking a little less Single Charlotte? and more like Mom Charlotte?

4.) Carrie = FABULOUS SHOES. But apparently she quit buying shoes so she could buy furniture. LAME. If I wanted to watch a show about furniture, I would watch HGTV (which I love!).

5.) Skipping to the end. Carrie kisses Aiden. And then tells Big. And she gets home and Big has… BOUGHT HER A BIG ASS BLACK DIAMOND. Really?! REALLY???

6.) The hot nanny is a lesbian. How convenient.

7.) I was disappointed that the relationships with the guys weren’t shown as much. It was sort of an ‘everybody has great relationships, so let’s go to Abu Dhabi’ feeling.

So yeah. And I know that Samantha is 50, but couldn’t they have portrayed her as a cougar? Instead of menopausing?

I was so excited to see this movie. And I’m glad I went and saw it. B/c it makes me appreciate the first movie SO MUCH MORE.

Have you guys seen it? What did you think?

Attn: I like shopping again.

So yesterday.

I went shopping.

AND I LIKED IT.

I cannot TELL you how excited I was to like shopping again.

I know that sounds dumb, but when you gain weight, shopping isn’t so fun anymore. You got stuff that hangs out where it’s not supposed to and things just don’t fit right.

But anyway. Yesterday I went shopping for a dress for the wedding I’m in on Saturday (I’m the guestbook girl). I got this one from New York and Co for a cool $34.98

New York and Co

It doesn’t look that fabulous on the model, but I really like it on me. And to show how inexperienced at wedding-shopping I am, I almost tried it on IN WHITE. yeah. Like that totally wouldn’t have been lame. (”Hi my name is Jennifer, I’m the guestbook bitch and I’m wearing white! Like the bride!”)

As a side note, has anyone seen The Proposal? B/c I really want to see it. I love Sandra Bullock.

A boner in The Little Mermaid. (really)

This evening finds me here:

Room Number

Room 110 in Fenton, Michigan.

Tonight, I’m watching VH1: I love the 80s.

I learned something very important.

In The Little Mermaid, during the wedding scene, the priest has a boner. Seriously. Go check it out. You know you want to.

Weight Watching

I had a healthy lunch AND a healthy dinner today. AND, I ran a mile. For the first time in many years. And it took me over 11 minutes, which is absolutely ridiculous considering I could run a mile in 7 minutes in my younger years. (I’ve always been a sprinter, not a long distance runner) BUT, it’s a start.

Penny pinching the trash bag

Even though I just graduated in May, my co-op experience gave me the opportunity to see the corporate world before I really set foot in it. The company I co-oped for was more like a halfway house to the corporate world though. They were/are non-union and their engineers get paid salary, but also get paid for overtime worked after the first 5 hours. The company I co-oped for was foreign-owned, and known for penny-pinching. That being said, my current company does something that goes beyond penny pinching.

Every day, around 3:00 or 3:30, the house-keeping people come around to empty our garbage cans. But they don’t take the bags out and replace them. Oh no. They take all the trash out of our trash cans (leaving the bag in it) and put it in a main bag that they carry with them. I’m sure that this is some sort of cost-saving measure that someone who does not have to dig through trash throught up. My issue is that it’s awkward having a person go through your trash. I always say hello to him and he asks me how my day is going and I say good and then usually throw in something about the weather. This has made me very conscious of how I throw things in my trash can. If I throw a coffee cup away, I try to set it up so it doesn’t dribble all over my other garbage. When I throw my yogurt cup away, I try to place it carefully so it doesn’t get all over everything. When I do a rare desk cleaning, I feel bad throwing too much stuff in my trash can because in the back of mind is the thought that someone is going to have to go through it piece by piece to throw it away. Does this seem ridiculous to anyone else?!?!

In other news:

Since the temperatures have been warm lately I turned off the heatlamps last night in the chicken coop. This led to me kicking random chickens as I tried to make my way out of the dark coop. Apparently they don’t have good night vision. Last night was the second night that I left the partition down seperating the younger chickens from the older ones. Integrating chickens is very difficult. The older ones will peck the younger ones, sometimes injuring or killing them. They seemed to be doing okay with the integration. The younger ones run away scared of the older ones, but at least they aren’t letting the older ones peck them bald.

I went out with two friends and saw Juno on Saturday night. It was a good movie and actually pretty funny. Then we went to Friend3’s house and chatted (wow, I’m getting old… who says chatted?) for a little bit. It was a good girls evening filled with wedding talk (If I do ever get married, I will have a wedding planner!), dumb things boys do talk, and future plans talk.

So far this week I have done pretty well on the WW plan. If I haven’t lost weight on Thursday, I’ll probably be devestated. (I think I misspelled devestated. Or maybe it just looks funny today. You know how some days a word just looks funny? Or maybe the font or handwriting its written in makes it look funny. Anyway, devestated is probably spelled wrong.)
